About
I’m a UX/UI designer in the Atlanta area, with a passion for creating both wonderful user experiences and beautiful design. Growing up I always loved drawing. I would get lost in a tornado of drawing my favorite characters or designing clothing.
In high school I had a dream that I wanted to be a fashion designer, my grandparents believed in that dream, and gifted me my first sewing machine plus they signed me up for sewing lessons. Today my drive and passion has molded into new interests, but with the same underlying passion. I want to create and make designs that matter.
My Journey into UX Design
In college I decided to major in marketing with a minor in advertising. I chose this path with the idea that I could mold my passion for design into creating advertisements and magazine ads. However, after college I began working at a tech startup. While working there I realized that my dreams and goals were shifting and I was no longer interested in pursuing a career in marketing.
I took a step back and evaluated what my goals were. I realized during my start in IT that I really enjoyed problem solving. I loved the challenge of helping my clients with solutions that would make their days easier by using the tools they had available. This started making me wonder, “How can I contribute to making my users lives easier?”
Driven by my love of learning, after a year of working in IT I chose to enroll in a bootcamp class at General Assembly learning about HTML, CSS, and Web Design. I enjoyed my time learning how to write HTML and CSS; however, what I loved more in that class was designing web sites. I was obsessed with tweaking the code to create the style of my website. And I found that I loved the process of creating the site architecture, the visual design, and the animations. I completed the course and asked myself, “Ok so I love problem solving and I love website design… is there anything out there that combines the best of those two worlds?”
That curiosity lead me to learning about UX Design! When I found out about user experience design, I immediately became excited. I’ve found the intersection of my two passions. UX would allow me the opportunity to design user experiences with meaning. I wanted to combine my passion for problem solving for my clients and designing delightful web experiences.
To confirm my curiosity of UX, I signed up for the User Experience Design Circuit through General Assembly. I wanted to know if this would be a good fit for myself. I would describe the feeling of taking that class as a sample of what more is to come. It was just a small taste of what the study of user experience is able to do for others. I began attending conferences to learn more, and eventually in 2018 I took a leap of faith and joined Springboard’s Immersive UX Career Track course. This jump started my career as a Product Designer and has led me to where I am in my career today.
In my free time
In my spare time I love coming up with different projects for myself, creating costumes/cosplay, exploring, playing video games, trying new recipes in the kitchen, kickboxing and pilates, and playing with my adorable pup “Jack”. Usually the projects I come up with are either craft related, home DIY, or my old child hood dream of becoming a fashion designer has morphed into costume creation and cosplaying. I enjoy pulling out my sewing machine and/or foam armor tools to create new costume ideas.
